In news that is surprising to absolutely no one who lives in Qatar, Doha has been named as one of the top 25 cities in the world.

According to Resonance Consultancy, our fabulous city ranks in 23rd place thanks to its metro system, universities, I.M. Pei-designed Museum of Islamic Art and the breathtaking National Museum of Qatar.

Resonance Consultancy based their rankings on six categories – place, products, people, prosperity, programming and promotion.

Doha came in second place out of 100 cities for its prosperity, which is based on income, standard of living, and the unemployment rate.

The city also came in 10th place for people, based on the diversity of the population, and educational attainment among those living here.

Writing about Doha in its rankings, Resonance Consultancy said, “In less than a century, Qatar went from a poor UK colony with a dwindling fishing industry to an independent nation with booming infrastructural development and radically improved lifestyle.

“Thanks to shrewd investment of oil wealth, the Qatar Investment Authority is estimated to be worth US$335 billion, a portion of which is channeled back into the country and into Doha.”

London was named the best city in the world for the fifth year running, with New York and Paris taking second and third place respectively.
