Doha’s Al Markhiya Gallery to host solo exhibition from Ahmed Albahrani

Al Markhiya Gallery is set to host a solo exhibition from Iraqi artist Ahmed Albahrani this month.

Head down to the Fire Station from October 6, and you’ll be able to check out the unique collection which uses a wide range of materials.

Albahrani uses his work, which includes sculpture, painting, print making and video, to raise awareness on the political realities of the Arab Diaspora, and draws inspiration from his personal life experiences.

You may have previously seen Albahrani’s work in Lusail, as he was commissioned to create the bronze hands emerging from the ground outside the Multipurpose Hall to celebrate the 24th Men’s Handball World Championships in Qatar in 2015.

The exhibition will be on display until November 15.

The National Museum of Qatar has just reopened, and there’s a new exhibition at the Museum of Islamic Art, too.
Until Nov 15. Doha Fire Station, Wadi Al Sail (6609 9687).
