The opening of the awaited Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas this January is just the beginning of an exciting year ahead for the hospitality industry in Qatar. Lots more properties are scheduled to open across the country in time for the FIFA World Cup 2022 which will bring football fans not just from the region but from around the world.
We rounded up some of the hotels scheduled to open this 2021 in Qatar. Check them out below.
Due to open in Q1 of 2021 according to its website, Banyan Tree Doha At La Cigale Mushaireb is a property you wouldn’t miss in Msheireb. Its central location will surely be one of its strong suits. The luxury hotel will feature 126 rooms and suites as well as an array of food and beverage options. Its facilities will include a retail shop, spa, fitness center, meeting rooms, kids club, cinemas, theme park, swimming pool, shopping mall, and more.
Located in C-Ring road, The Plaza Doha by Anantara will have 228 rooms and suites, rooftop and indoor swimming pools, Anantara Spa and fitness center, meeting rooms, ballroom, and multiple dining options. Blending Parisian and Arabian design, guests will be treated to luxury starting from the courtyard atrium, marble interiors and glass chandeliers.
Jouri, A Murwab Hotel will feature 110 luxurious rooms and 26 suites in a luxury accommodation fusing contemporary boutique chic style and Arabian hospitality. Facilities will include meeting facilities, spa, pool, gym, meeting facilities, an all day-restaurant, and a lobby bar.
According to Deutsche Hospitality, the Steigenberger Hotel along Airport road is set to open in Q2 of 2021. The futuristic-looking building will offer 200+ rooms, ballroom, meeting facilities, various F&B options, wellness facilities, as well as outdoor and indoor pools.
Location: Al Matar St, Doha
According to the Katara Hospitality website, the iconic Katara Towers in Lusail Marina is set to open this 2021. The inspiration behind the building’s design is the traditional scimitar swords on Qatar’s national emblem. The twin arched towers will host a hotel, luxury apartments, leisure facilities, restaurants, and offices.
It’s the first hospitality project in Qatar to receive a certificate for the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) Design & Build 5 Stars rating at the design stage.
Location: Lusail City
This resort is set to be one of the largest wellness destinations and the first and only full-immersion resort in the Middle East. Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som will pioneer the digital detoxing concept in Qatar, restricting the use of mobile phones and electronic devices when outdoors and in the resort’s public areas and wellness facilities. It’s located in Khasooma, in the northern coast of Qatar.

According to a press release, Al Rayyan Tourism Investment (“ARTIC”) has signed a six property deal with Marriott International.
“The six properties will include five new-build hotels – Le Méridien City Center Doha, Delta Hotels City Center Doha, Element City Center Doha, Element Doha West Bay, and Al Samriya, Autograph Collection – in addition to a conversion property that will be rebranded to become Marriott Executive Apartments City Center, Doha.
Five of the properties will be located in one of the most vibrant and commercial areas in the Qatari capital, West Bay, while Al Samriya, Autograph Collection will be located in the Al-Shahaniya district, an ideal sanctuary for quality time with the family and loved ones. All six hotels are expected to open in 2021.”
