Qatar took part in the joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) and China, which was held virtually yesterday.
Addressing the meeting, HE al-Muraikhi said that the meeting comes amid extremely crucial circumstances due to the security, economic and political challenges facing the world, in addition to the serious negative consequences of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, which emphasises the importance of joint work and the aspiration to further advance the bilateral co-operation mechanisms to broader horizons, consistent with the strong and deep-rooted relations between the two sides.
and co-ordinate on the current crises and issues of common concern, thus contributing to achieving regional and global security and stability.
Al-Muraikhi affirmed that the historic relations between the GCC states and China are developing steadily, especially in economy, trade, energy, investment, finance, and others, which is confirmed by the volume of trade exchange between the two sides.
At the bilateral level, al-Muraikhi said that Qatar and China enjoy growing relations of friendship that are developing in all fields, adding that China is one of the largest trading partners of Qatar.
He indicated that Qatar was one of the first countries to support the Belt and Road initiative given its strategic goals and unlimited opportunities to boost the economy in Asia and the world.
