In the relations between any two countries the most important factor is the friendship between their two leaders. If it comes to Kazakhstan and Qatar, it could be described as the best level of interstate cooperation since the two nations assumed diplomatic ties in early 90s, said a statement issued by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Doha.
The first official act on the FM level ever made between Kazakhstan and Qatar was the visit by H E Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Doha 1997, then later in 1998 H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani followed with a return visit as the Qatari counterpart.
In 1998 also the first official visit of H E Nursultan Nazarbayev to Qatar took place. Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani paid his first official visit to Kazakhstan in 1999 and in 2007 Nazarbayev was second time officially received in Qatar and in 2008 H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani visited Kazakhstan a second time.
Both countries consecutively established their Embassies in the both capitals in 2007 and 2008.
The new pages of relations between the brotherly countries were written in early 2014 with the first official visit of Amir
H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Kazakhstan and the third official visit in 2015 by President Nazarbayev to Doha.
The new phase of the relations between the two countries was launched in March 2019 as H H the Amir sent congratulations to H E President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the occasion of taking the oath and office as the Head of State and expressed wishes for success and prosperity to the people of Kazakhstan, and also a cable of the best wishes on the occasion of win elections in June 2019, in recognition of his role and underlining the merits of an internationally known and wise politician, an experienced diplomat, and a former top UN representative and peacemaker.
Right after that, both the leaders held phone call and finally met on the sidelines of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Summit in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Currently the State visit of H H the Amir to Kazakhstan is being prepared after it was postponed in March due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
On May 15 this year, H H the Amir directed to ship medical equipment to Kazakhstan as measure of Qatar’s global action against the pandemic. The supplied were delivered to Nur-Sultan by best professionalism of the Qatar Development Fund and Qatar Airways.
Moreover, all Kazakh citizens staying in Qatar were and are still being supported by the protective social conditions of the Qatari economy and they are contributing to the success of Qatar in their different positions as employees in so many sectors.
Both the governments also arranged a repatriation flight for Kazakh nationals yesterday.
Hopefully most will return back to Doha after the lifting of the quarantine measures. Their contribution works as a bridge between the two countries.
It should be also said that the global air-connectivity of Qatar Airways helped effectively in shipping of the humanitarian aid to Kazakhstan from South Korea, Pakistan and other destinations since the Qatari cargo aircraft uses the international airport of Almaty as one of its main air hubs for Asia.
This examples of brotherly aid and support from Qatar to Kazakhstan’s people was very much appreciated by President Tokayev.
The FM of the State, H E Mukhtar Tleuberdi sent an official letter to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al Thani, to thank the State of Qatar for medical aid.
“We admire the measures of the State of Qatar to protect the ordinary people, workers in the country as well as the tourists against the outbreak as the effective and preventive ones and the active contribution on the international level, the letter said.
The Minister also delivered the message from Qatar’s close friend, H E President Tokayev: ‘The nation of Kazakhstan is very much expecting H H the Amir on his state visit in Nur-Sultan soon and recognises him as one of the world leaders and close allies.”
This summit will be the highest level act as per international diplomatic state protocol.
