Qatar ranked sixth best country in the world for expats

There’s no shortage of things to love about Qatar, and we’re always trying to convince our friends to pack up their bags and move to Doha to enjoy the fantastic beaches and the exceptional art galleries and museums.

We’re not alone in believing our city is one of the best in the world to live in either – as proven by a new survey.

According to the latest HSBC Expat Explorer Survey, Qatar ranks sixth overall, and top in the Middle East.

The survey looks at topics including quality of life, learning, income, and cultural values, split into three broad categories – living, aspiring, and mindset.

For the living category, Qatar also ranked second in the world for learning, and fifth for making friends.

The country also did well in the aspiring category, coming in first in the world for both income and disposable income, and third for reaching potential.

Writing about Qatar on its website, HSBC said,

“Developing at breakneck speed, the country has steadily risen from the sands like a glittering behemoth and continues to attract foreign professionals from all walks of life.

“Situated on the Arabian Peninsula, the small emirate of Qatar – and particularly its rapidly developing capital city of Doha – is a hive of commercial activity that is certainly making the world sit up and take notice.”

The top spot in the survey rankings was taken by Switzerland, followed by Singapore. The top five was rounded off by New Zealand, Germany and Spain.
