Vodafone Qatar participated at the Total Telecom Congress 2018 in the UK, where Ramy Boctor, Chief Technology Officer, shared insights and expertise about the converged digital solutions provider’s 5G roll out in Qatar.

The session – “The future is 5G: Making next generation mobile a reality” – focused on the what, when, where and why’s of 5G. Key themes explored by the panellists included whether 5G is a revenue opportunity or a cost efficiency, different 5G business models, understanding the 5G service offering, spectrum allocation and regulation, and network architectures together with the role of 4.5G.
Since the summer, Vodafone Qatar has accelerated its 5G roll out plans following successful initial tests conducted using spectrum in the 3.5GHz band allocated for 5G. Vodafone Qatar’s engineers have since made rapid progress in laying the groundwork for a 5G network in key locations across the country.
Once 5G is launched commercially it will revolutionise how people in Qatar live and work. Vodafone Qatar’s 5G network will introduce ‘Vodafone Gigabit Qatar’, which is the dawn of the next digital revolution in which people and businesses for the first time will enjoy ultra-fast Gigabit speeds, experience ultra-low latency that will provide users with a real-time, uninterrupted experience.
